We were commissioned by KOR Salon in Waimea, Hawaii to create a complete collection of professional headshots, environmental portraits, team photography and interior images for its new website. KOR Salon is one of Hawaii Island’s premier salons, with four highly sought-after stylists and a dedicated nail technician, and the team needed a cohesive set of photographs that reflected the quality and personality of the brand.
This was a turnkey photography assignment rather than a standard headshot session. Over the course of the project we photographed the people who work at the salon, the space they work in, and the details that give the business its character. The assignment took us from Dallas-Fort Worth to Waimea on Hawaii Island to do it.
Photographing the People Behind KOR Salon
An upscale salon serving clients across Hawaii Island is selling more than a service. Clients choose a stylist, and the photographs on a salon website are usually the first impression anyone forms of that team. That made the portrait work the foundation of the assignment.
Each member of the team was photographed individually inside the salon rather than against a seamless studio backdrop. Using the reception area and the styling floor as the setting produced environmental portraits that feel polished and professional while still showing the room clients actually walk into. The result reads as a real business rather than a set of portraits that could have been made anywhere.

We photographed a mix of framing for each person, from tighter professional headshots suitable for a team bio or a booking page to wider environmental portraits with more of the salon visible. Having both means the salon can use the same session for a team page, social profiles, press requests, and future marketing without needing to reshoot.

We also photographed the team together outside the salon. A team photograph does something individual portraits cannot: it shows the group as a group, which matters for an established Waimea salon whose reputation is built on the strength of the full team, four highly sought-after stylists and a dedicated nail technician.
Creating a Complete Visual Library for Their New Website
A website built on portraits alone runs out of material quickly. Service pages, booking pages, and social posts all need images, and a site that repeats the same handful of faces starts to feel thin. A significant part of this assignment was photographing the salon itself.

That included wide interior photographs of the styling floor and reception area, along with the details that give the space its personality: the tools of the trade, the retail product displays, the finishes and furnishings, and the overall atmosphere of the room.

These images do a specific job on a website. They fill the space between portraits, they give a designer options for headers and section backgrounds, and they answer the question every prospective client quietly asks before booking somewhere new: what is it actually like inside?

Consistent Photography Creates a Stronger Brand
The most valuable part of an assignment like this is not any single photograph. It is that every photograph was made by one photographer, during one coordinated assignment, under one approach to lighting, color, and retouching.
Most business websites are assembled from images collected over years: a few professional portraits, some phone photos of the space, a stock image or two, and a newer headshot for whoever joined most recently. Each may be fine on its own, but together they never quite match, and the site ends up feeling less considered than the business behind it.

Photographing everything at once removes that problem. The portraits, the interiors, and the detail images share the same lighting, the same color treatment, and the same finishing, so they sit together on a page as one body of work. That consistency is what makes a website feel like a brand rather than a collection of files.
Corporate Headshots and Business Photography, Wherever Your Team Is Located
Headshots of DFW is based in Dallas-Fort Worth, and we travel for assignments like this one. The KOR Salon project is a straightforward example: the client was on Hawaii Island, the work needed to happen on location, and we brought the full setup to them.
Our portable professional lighting and photography setup means a company’s office, headquarters, event venue, or other location becomes the studio for the duration of the assignment. The workflow does not change based on the zip code, so a team photographed in another state receives the same quality and consistency as one photographed in Plano or Fort Worth.

We regularly travel for corporate headshots, executive portraits, company-wide headshot projects, business branding photography, website photography, event headshot stations, and other corporate and commercial photography assignments. If your people are in one place, or spread across several, we can come to them, photograph your team and your business, and deliver the complete visual library your website and marketing need.
